On the Front Line

I just returned from the Proverbs 31 Ministres She Speaks conference in soggy,
summertime North Carolina, where I perspired profusely (Westerner that I am) and
garnered great tools to hone my craft. It was an amazing weekend where I met
like-minded women, similarly impassioned to spread the love of Christ through
their words, both spoken and written. I even got to meet and hug the amazing Lysa
TerKeurst!

I left inspired and freshly committed to seek My Creator hour
by hour, as He reveals the direction He would have me take in my calling as a
writer. After all, it is not about me and getting my message out there; it is about Him, and my humble service to Him
and His kingdom! It is only through my reliance on Him that I will be effective in my ministry.
Thought it was an unforgettable weekend, only hours into my
journey to the conference, I felt like hopping a plane back to the mountains! You
see, Satan did NOT want me at She Speaks,
because he knew Almighty God had sent me there! Therefore, the evil one brought
out the heavy artillery as I traveled to my destination. There I was, on the front
line, and his target was clearly ME.
His tactics included: multiple delayed flights, interceding and
destroying my networking card order so I had none when I arrived, a terrible
night’s sleep, rendering me temporarily incapable of starting the car that was supposed to
take me to the conference, getting me thoroughly lost on the way there, and the grand finale (drumroll, please), causing
another car to nearly hit me when I was only minutes from the hotel!
Admittedly, I wept like a baby. Lord!
I cried, Am I even supposed to go?
But He ultimately, faithfully delivered me at the conference
only fifteen minutes late, to be greeted by warm smiles and an amazing time of Spirit-filled
worship to start the weekend off right. As the familiar songs washed over my
soul, I knew I was where I was supposed to be, and Satan had NOT been the victor!
And that, my friends, caused a large smile to spread across my battle-worn face.
The truth is, the more invested we become in Kingdom work,
the harder Satan will work to derail us…and at times, his schemes are
frighteningly effective. But we can be assured, and even encouraged that we are on the right path when we face fierce opposition
from the prince of this world!
Let’s keep up the good fight on the front line!

“Finally,
be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so
that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.” Ephesians 6:10-11
